Mountain Regional Housing Corporation

The MRHC Board of Directors is composed of volunteer citizens whose goal is to preserve and create balance in the community through affordable housing. MRHC will have a full time Executive Director in early 2002.

MRHC has a history of two successful housing projects in its eight+ years of existence: Thompson Corner at River Valley Ranch in Carbondale: a neighborhood of 60 single family and duplex Victorian style homes; and Ullr Commons in Aspen, a small lodge converted to 26 employee housing rental units.

MRHC has partnered with the local chapter of the Salvation Army to acquire funding for the Homeless Sleep Center (Shelter) in the Roaring Fork Valley, and has helped the Salvation Army to create the Homeless Day Center, which is open and serving approximately 80 persons per month.

Originally appointed by the Town of Carbondale, MRHC has been an advisory board and housing advocacy group since 1993. MRHC has been a private non-profit community housing development corporation since 1999. MRHC achievements include:

  • Created 60 affordable homes at Thompson Corner, Carbondale, CO.

The Colorado Division of Housing has also asked MRHC to consider providing administrative services to the housing programs of the mid Roaring Fork Valley area, in cooperation with Garfield County Housing Authority.
